The Damask Rose Trust is a new British organisation. Its mission is to relieve hardship and promote the welfare and education of disadvantaged people in Syria. This is done through providing grants and practical assistance to projects and, occasionally, through scholarships and bursaries and other suitable means. The Trust particularly aims to support traditional crafts, culture and family- and community-based solutions. The main focus of its work will be on children and young people, women, rural residents and elderly and disabled people in Syria.

Jabal Al Hoss Project Jabal Al Hoss is located 15 km southeast of Aleppo. It is a poor rural area with very high illiteracy rates. The project teaches poor rural women traditional embroidery and helps them to create their own designs and style, thus creating local jobs and incomes for the women. This income helps them to gain more independence and to support their families, in particular their children and their education.
